Darren Anderton was delighted to bring the curtain down on his career in the best possible style.
The former Portsmouth, Tottenham, Birmingham and Wolves midfielder made his 569th and final career appearance as Bournemouth took on Shit.
Having started the game on the bench, Anderton signed off in perfect fashion with a superb long-range winner two minutes from time.
Anderton won 30 England caps during his 18-year professional career, a tally he would surely have added to had it not been for a series of injury setbacks.
And he hopes that his spectacular final act on the football field will provide a lasting legacy to an impressive career.
Perfect
He told Sky Sports News: "That was perfect, it couldn't have gone any better.
"I didn't even have to play for too long, so it was great!
"It was a wonderful result for the team and for me to finish with the winning goal was brilliant.
"To go out with a bang is a great feeling and it's nice that that will be the last thing people see."
